Searching the House Court Docket
Begin with the court printed on the citation, not an assumed House city court. Pull the court name, full case number, party names, filing date, and case type from the notice. Do that before anything else. The public layer for state-court docket summaries is New Mexico Case Lookup. It needs no registration. It can surface a House-related Magistrate or District Court matter. Even so, it shows summaries rather than the full case file. A missing result does not decide the court route.
When a result is absent, old, restricted, or just confusing, call the court holding the case. Quay Magistrate Court answers at 575-461-1700 or qcmc-grp@nmcourts.gov. Quay District Court lists 575-461-2764 and tenthjdcpublic@nmcourts.gov. Beyond the phone, House court record requests can travel by counter inquiry, mail, fax, or the Judicial IPRA form. Use those when online access falls short.
- Read the House notice for the named court, case number, response date, and matter type.
- Search Case Lookup by the exact number first, then compare the court location and category with the notice.
- Use the returned court prefix and docket details to distinguish Magistrate, District, Municipal, or other court levels.
- Call the appropriate Quay clerk if the House court docket does not appear or the result does not match the paper.
- Request the official record from the court custodian when a docket summary does not include the needed document.
Note: Follow the court named on the notice for any House court docket search, since no public House city court channel exists.
House Court Route Through Quay
House sits inside Quay County as an incorporated village. But a House address alone never decides the court. Quay Magistrate Court takes the lower-jurisdiction work: misdemeanors, DWI, traffic, lower civil claims, and felony preliminary proceedings. Quay District Court is the county's general-jurisdiction court. It handles felonies, major civil cases, family, juvenile, and estate matters. The Quay County Clerk holds informal probate and county records, not the District Court docket.
| House matter | Likely custodian | First search or contact |
|---|---|---|
| Traffic, misdemeanor, DWI, lower civil, or preliminary matter | Quay Magistrate Court | Case Lookup, Magistrate clerk, or counter |
| Felony, major civil, family, juvenile, contested estate, or district appeal | Quay County District Court | Case Lookup, Tenth District schedule, or District clerk |
| Informal and uncontested probate | Quay County Clerk | County Clerk, then District Court if contested |
Name the court, the case number, and the document you want in any House court docket request. For an older or unusual file, the case number does the work that a community name cannot.
House Municipal Court Basics
House publishes no municipal-court directory entry, docket portal, or city-court contact. So there is no verified city court search channel to place ahead of the state and Quay routes. That gap does not invalidate a notice. It does not fix the court either. Whatever court is printed on the citation or case paper controls the next call.
The state Municipal Courts Division directory currently lists Tucumcari. It shows no House Municipal Court entry. Do not route a House matter to Tucumcari just because it is the county seat. Is the court unclear on a local notice? Phone Quay Magistrate Court or Quay District Court with the case number. Ask which one keeps the House case.
House Court Portal Check
No House court portal, municipal listing, or city-court contact exists right now. The sound approach to a House court docket search runs through New Mexico Case Lookup first. Confirm next with the court on the notice. An incorporated village does not, by itself, mean a city portal is out there. Because of this gap, the phone, clerk counter, mail, fax, and Judicial IPRA channels carry the load for House cases. Online access is not one of them.
Quay District Court's public office sits at 300 South Third Street, second floor, Room 200, Tucumcari, NM 88401. Mail goes to P.O. Box 1067, Tucumcari, NM 88401. Published hours run Monday through Friday. They span 8:00 a.m. to noon and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Magistrate files are at 122 West Center Street, Tucumcari, NM 88401, open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Check current hours before you drive over.
Note: A House court docket that never shows up online should be routed by the notice. Confirm it with the Quay clerk.
Court Dates and Settings in House
A House court date can surface in three places. Check the notice itself, the docket summary, or the Tenth Judicial District's short-range schedule. The Quay District and Magistrate schedule pages span the current day plus six following days. That window suits a near-term House court check, though the court warns that hearing details can run incomplete. Anything outside the window calls for clerk confirmation. So does any changed setting, and any case with no online result. Confirm with the court holding the House file.
| Court | Record the Quay Magistrate or Quay District court identified on the House notice. |
|---|---|
| Date and time | Keep the scheduled setting, then confirm a change with the custodian clerk. |
| Case number | Use the exact number, including the court prefix and case category. |
| Case style | Compare the public caption or description with the House court paper. |
| Setting type | Note whether the docket lists a hearing, arraignment, pretrial, trial, motion, or status event. |
The Tenth District hearing index links the Quay schedule channels. When the public calendar runs thin, the House court notice plus direct clerk confirmation controls.
House Court Docket Lookup
Start at Case Lookup when you need a House court docket from the state system. A search there can return the case number, the style, the filing date, the court location, the case category, and public event detail. Think of the docket as a timeline. Clerks also call it a register of actions. It is not the full file of documents behind the case. The statewide system leaves gaps, too. Juvenile matters, sealed records, pre-1997 cases, and some municipal information sit outside it, so a missing House result calls for a check at the court level rather than a conclusion that no case exists.
Case codes help you read what comes back. D means District. M is Magistrate, U Municipal, and T Metropolitan. On the case type side, CR is criminal, TR traffic, and CV civil. Codes are a reading aid, not a clerk's confirmation, so verify anything that matters. For documents open to an appropriate registered user, the judiciary points to re:Search NM as the wider case-information and document system.
The New Mexico Case Lookup entry page is where the public search itself begins, and it is the official route into a House docket lookup.
Need help with the search fields? The statewide lookup screen is the place to begin a House court docket lookup. When a result is restricted, a file is older, or a document is not linked online, the Quay clerk is the House fallback.
Traffic Tickets in House
Route a House traffic ticket by the court named on the citation. That court controls the case. House posts no municipal court portal or contact. A citation naming Quay Magistrate Court belongs in Case Lookup and with the Magistrate clerk. The public docket can show the court case. It can also show the setting, the plea, and the recorded disposition. Still, the docket is not the response route. The citation and clerk supply that. The court can explain whether the matter has a payment process. It can also explain a hearing setting, or a proof-based procedure.
Local Rule 2025-001 applies to specified traffic citations. It covers the Quay, DeBaca, and Harding Magistrate Courts. It sets defined Appearance, Plea, and Waiver paths. Those apply only to the categories and proof the rule lists. Guilt is not the clerk's to decide. The clerk also cannot set a non-listed amount through a personal interpretation of the rule. For the county-wide House citation process and court-file copies, plus a payment-or-hearing comparison, see Quay County Traffic Tickets.
Note: Confirm any House traffic docket with the court on the citation. House offers no verified city channel.
House Magistrate Traffic Docket
Quay Magistrate Court is the direct House traffic contact when the citation names that court. Start there. The listed public phone is 575-461-1700, the email is qcmc-grp@nmcourts.gov, and the address is 122 West Center Street, Tucumcari, NM 88401. Have the citation number, case number, and response date ready. The clerk can confirm whether a House citation has been filed, which court date is active, and which record channel fits a copy request.
The official Quay County Magistrate Court page posts the court's public profile. Trust the current court record. A generic House search result cannot settle the status of a particular House traffic case. If the notice identifies District Court instead, take the matter to the District Court clerk. Never redirect it to Magistrate Court.
Where House Cases Go
House cases follow the subject matter. Jurisdiction, not a city docket, decides where each one goes. A House lower-court traffic, misdemeanor, DWI, lower civil, or preliminary matter may be a Quay Magistrate case. Felonies are different. Major civil, family, juvenile, estate, and other general-jurisdiction matters use Quay District Court. Informal probate stays with the county clerk. A contested estate can become a District Court case, so the House docket route turns on the type of case.
Docket flow: House notice and court designation › Quay Magistrate Court or Quay District Court › New Mexico Court of Appeals for an appellate matter.
That court-level distinction drives any House docket search. The statewide Quay County Case Lookup page lays out the House search fields and case prefixes that make the routing work.
House Wind-Energy Court Geography
House sits in the southwest corner of Quay County. The village is incorporated but tiny. The official 2020 incorporated-place ranking lists House with 56 residents. Wind energy shapes the area. The Quay County plan identifies the 204 MW New Mexico Wind Energy Center, the Casa Mesa Wind Project, a proposed repower increase, and storage planning. No House courthouse comes of it. Nor does a city docket or special court jurisdiction; for the consistent 2020 ranking of all four Quay incorporated places, the official Census incorporated-place table is the source.
Those population figures place House among the county's incorporated communities. They say nothing about courts. A House court docket follows the court named on the case. It never follows the local population or geography. Community history is context only. Court custody still tracks the notice and the case type.
House Court Record Access Rules
Access to House court records starts with one rule. That rule is Rule 1-079 NMRA, working alongside the court that holds the record. The rule presumes openness. Inspection and copying are the default unless a statute, court order, access tier, confidentiality rule, or seal says otherwise. It reaches House docket entries, registers of actions, documents, exhibits, transcripts, and other court materials. An online result is not the official record. It may lack current or complete information.
Some matters stay closed. Juvenile cases, Family Violence Protection Act orders, sealed records, confidential abuse-and-neglect or adoption matters, and protected identifiers can all limit public access. Ask the Quay clerk when a House record is missing online, restricted, sealed, or held in another court. A Judicial IPRA request must describe the record with reasonable particularity. No request overrides a seal or confidentiality restriction.
Key access rules:
Rule 1-079 NMRA governs public inspection, protected identifiers, and the sealing process for court records.
New Mexico Inspection of Public Records Act request channel accepts a reasonably particular request for the judicial district that holds a House court case.
NMSA 1978, Section 32A-2-32 is an official source for juvenile confidentiality provisions.
House Probate Court Record Route
For a House probate matter, your first stop depends on the kind of case. Informal probate runs through the Quay County Clerk, whose office lists informal probate among its record duties. Visit at 300 South Third Street in Tucumcari, NM 88401, mail to P.O. Box 1225, or call 575-461-0510. A will dispute, contested estate, or petition for general-jurisdiction relief is different. That kind of House District Court docket belongs with the District Court, not the clerk.
Sort out the track before you request anything. The clerk's informal-probate file may carry its own number and event view, so it will not read like a House District Court docket. Quay County posts no probate portal, no probate search form, and no fee schedule online. A current probate judge's name is also not published.
The official Quay County Clerk page lays out the office and what records it handles.
The clerk's page supports the informal route only. It does not put a House District Court docket, or any other House court file, in the County Clerk's hands.
Note: Check custody first. An informal county record and a contested District Court file are separate matters, so a House probate request can land in the wrong office if you skip that step.
